PRIVATE WORKSHOP @ ASCOT VALE
DAY 1 - INTO ABSTRACTION+ This day will be peppered with exercises to free up thinking and encourage confident risk-taking through the genre of abstraction. Starting with image references from real life, we’ll explore composition, tone, and colour to create unique abstract paintings. Editing tricks will be provided to help you maximise your own problem-solving abilities. Repeat students will be provided with extension tasks and fresh reference imagery. DAY 2 - INTO YOUR PRACTICE Students are invited to bring a body of past work (5-20 pieces) for this session. Whilst we continue to develop yesterday's paintings, we will delve deeper into independent decision-making. We'll discuss how to integrate new learning into existing portfolios of work, identifying emerging styles, themes, and creative roadblocks. This day aims to strengthen each student's individual practice- whether they continue in the genre of abstraction or not. ____________________________________ TIMINGS 10am - 4pm Saturday 24 January & Sunday 25 January, 2026 (workshop is two days long) LOCATION Dwell Community Hall 78 St Leonards Rd, Ascot Vale, VIC 3032 EXPERIENCE LEVEL For beginners to those with experience. ____________________________________ MATERIALS TO BRING - Acrylic paints* - A range of brush sizes - At least x5 surfaces to paint on (could be canvas, linen, wooden board.
